This design reproduces a model shown in Shuzo Fujimoto’s book, Invitation to Creative Playing with Origami, on page 163. It is a mix of two types of molecules: CFW 328 and CFW 60. Since I haven’t folded CFW 328 in isolation so far, I will treat this as the canonical page for CFW 328 for the time being.

I folded the model in 2022, at the height of my research on Fujimoto in preparing for his 100th birth anniversary. I’m publishing it just before his 11th death anniversary on July 28th, 2026.

CFW 328 was one of the tricky designs to reverse-engineer from pictures, since there were no direct instructions in Fujimoto’s books. Initially, I got confused and thought it was the same as CFW 55 since the two molecules look very similar. However, upon closer inspection you can notice that in CFW 328, there is no square in the center of the flower visible in the top layer that CFW 55 has (the square is visible in back-light, though). The flower is bigger that CFW 60 molecules around it.

This design can be described as four Four-Sink-Base molecules meeting at a point and the preliminary-base-shaped parts petal folded to form a flower. Two similar designs (with shallower valley folds in place of the petal folds) I found online are Happy Tessellation by Haligami and this tessellation by Meenakshi Mukerji.
